Had I seen this in time, I would have said that a gift in the form of an action rather than a purchase would not break the agreement. Breakfast in bed? A nice massage by candlelight?

Something like that allows you to still save for the vaca, but also shows her (better than anything from Amazon) that you love her.

The best gift I ever got was a bunch of sea glass a close friend had collected and put in a jar for me. Sometimes, when I am sad, I will dump the jar out on my bed and admire all the pieces. Each one is unique and special.

You shouldn't be giving her a gift, or you'd break each other's promise to each other. You can buy something nice, that both of you would feel pleasure about for later in the night. Ahem. 😏
