Is it okay to use talcum powder for the face.

I've met a girl at the store in a mall. I was looking for a face powder and wanted to change brand. She has a very beautiful skin. She said she use talcum powder. I bought the same talcum powder as she does. I apply it, but it doesn't as smooth as hers. Maybe idk how to use it without the sponge. She said the sponge is not good for the skin. How to make the talcum powder smooth on the face. Is it good to use talcum powder for the face. Thank you for your advise.

I think it absorbs oil and moisture from the skin, so makes it seem smooth. I use unperfumed talc on my feet and hands for gymnastics to reduce friction and keep them in good condition. Don't know if it is ok on the face, but I think a make-up brush would work well.
