Relocating

I am planning to relocate in the next 3 to 6 months. I work with the same company for three years and plan on transferring so I'll have work. I'm thinking about Nevada but haven't picked a city yet. In full disclosure I am a trans woman so I am also asking this question in regards to safety and making social circles in my new city. What are some of the pros and cons of living in Nevada? Safety? Good places to go to make friends only? Not looking for dates or hook ups. I'm also an artist, I play guitar and paint. So art scenes and circles? I know this is a lot of questions and hoping I can get some good pointers or at least pointing in the right direction.

just be sure you do your homework on cost of living in different areas. I've known people who thought they'd make a big move upwards in going to vegas, only to find the cost was much higher than they'd expected.

I plan to avoid Vegas anyway. Was hoping for a smaller quite town but definitely places where I might be able to go and play music and paint. @SW-User

@onegirlgoth sounds cool, but I think the research is always advisable.

case in point, I moved from OK to Bay Area, Cali. doubled my salary.
but my apartment (that I could finally find) was about 4x as much. and the food was far worse. cost of living was drastically higher. nearly ruinously so.
