Does anyone else do this?

Okay so basicallly I have this weird thing I've been doing since I was about 12 . That's when I first remember doing it but it may not have been the first time. Warning this will be hard to explain it is my first time ever talking about it. Whenever I touch something or brush up against anything I suddenly feel compelled to touch it with the other hand or body part that originally brushed up against it . Then after touching it with both hands I have to sort or do it again with both hands but touch it st the same time to feel normal. If I don't do it I feel like I'll be cursed or something bad will happen to me . I often can be walking with friends and I will literally stop and walk backwards just to "make it even" as I call it . Another similar thing I'll do at times is speak in my mind and sort of challenge myself . I'll be trying to remember something and suddenly my brain voice will click in saying "If you can't remember it in the next 3 minutes then that means your car won't start tomorrow . If you do figure it out then nothing bad will happen." After that I would suddenly force my brain to remember so nothing bad will happen to me. I remember at around 16 I started something else similar , ( all while still doing the previous things ), whenever I have my shirt off and my back out And would walk past a wall I had to put my back on the cold wall quickly. In my head it's a way to please God to show that I can do something like put my back on the cold concrete wall and discomfort myself to show I'm grateful for all he has done for me . after typing all this out I literally feel kind of crazy . But does anyone out there have any weird triggers like this ? It's been happening daily for as long as I can remember starting at about 12 or 12

You should probably see a doctor about this. It sounds like you might have OCD

interesting your mind is just making things up it seems. I have random quirks too everyone does just don't let it control you

I don't have the urge to retouch something, but do have the conversations with my brain. I tend to give the part I'm talking to a separate personality. If there is something I can't understand, I think the question and then get the first solution that comes to mind. Then I will think a bit and ask extra questions to clarify, like "yes, but what about this or what if that". Then I let my mind sort through those things and come up with something else. Eventually, I have walked down enough paths that I know the answer. This of course, is only for things that can actually be figured out using logic. I can't find answers to facts about topics I've never even read about. I'm a thinker, not a magician.

I don't know about the other stuff but I do, from time to time, touch something with both hands or legs. It's a habit that I've been slowly getting of. The only way you can please God is to receive His son, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He wishes that none of us be lost but come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Sounds like you might have a moderate case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I would suggest that if you are bothered by these obsessions and compulsions, seek help. There are ways you can be taught to manage things so they're not as disruptive to you or others.

Thank you for responses , the weirdest thing also is that it has never really bothered my social life or it doesn't necessarily uncomfort me . It's just a part of my everyday life . But at times I do get weirded out when it gets extreme like chasing a stranger down just to brush against their arm again

OCD. Almost definitely. It's treatable.
