How safe is air freshener?

The other day a sudden brief desert storm blew through my town, and the ants came pouring into my otherwise beautiful poolside room. I had forgotten to get ant baits and ant poison spray when I'd gone shopping. In desperation, trying to stem the tide, I sprayed them with my air freshener spray (an off brand, called Nice!). AND ALL THE ANTS DIED!!! They all just stopped moving and dropped dead. I watched them for about 10 minutes, and not one of them revived.

I have never in my life had any ant poison spray work as well as this can of air freshener did. In fact, I had sometimes gotten the impression that poison spray just got them high rather than killed them; they just staggered around for a while, then most of them kept on going.

So...I've been using this air freshener in my rented room and in the shared (with two guys) bathroom...

Should I be using this air freshener spray ever again for it's stated purpose?

Has anyone ever used air freshener to kill ants or other bugs?

Should I write to the manufacturer of the air freshener and suggest a massive relabeling of their product?

All atomized sprays will kill insects.. Insects breathe with a network of tiny tubes called tracheae located in their abdomen.. The chemicals in any spray mess with this delicate process thus killing the insect.. Fabreze, deodorants, room sprays all will kill insects... Your brand is not unique in this matter....
My husband uses ant spray but I can't stand the way it smells.@Majorlatency
@Spoiledbrat Tell him not to use it on his armpits then... Get him to try Lysol!
@MajorlatencyI grabbed a can of spray deodorant as to large moths flew in my bedroom I tried to kill them (I don't usually) but it was late and I was a bit scared to sleep. Anyway the never died they did drop to the ground and I covered them with a sheet. In the morning they were still alive. I used tons of the deodorant as I was choking, but never killed the moths. I was sure it would have. weird!
@Cutiepi23 At least they smelled good...
@Majorlatency yeah cant believe it never killed them they must be a super resistant type of moth. I used half a can lol
@Cutiepi23 Perhaps they're a product of Chernobyl.. Or hardy Scottish moths fed on a diet of Porridge and Heavy beer... Next time take a picture...
Good luck with your bedroom antics...
