There's no easy way to cope with loneliness, and giving up by closing yourself off doesn't make anything better. Sometimes all we can do is keep trying and hope for the best.
It's not the most attractive option. You're opening yourself up to disappointment, uncertainty, and the feeling like you may be waiting in vain, but it's probably the best shot you have.
Keep looking for friends. Nothing is going to happen overnight, but if you show interest in others, speak sincerely, and find ways to engage them, the chances are good that they'll want to stick around.

idk im about to close myself off from people.. people are too much.. as ive learned theres a lot of sick people out there.

ive lost friends because of them lying and messing around with lots of men.. ive lost friends do to wearing masks.. so many people seem nuts. i lived my life closed off from a lot of people. it left me kind of a mute hard to communicate with others but i dont have to deal with all the drama people bring. i cant relate to others anymore.
