Need help from someone tech savvy

I am trapped in an abusive living situation with my parents. Unfortunately we are dependent on them financially for the time being so I have to be....tolerant of them. At least not fully hostile.

My mom is the worst offender. Is just straight up verbally/emotionally abusive to me. Constantly sending me harassing, insulting, jabbing texts. And then lovey dovey ones to try to cover up for it. It is so so unhealthy for me to be exposed to. I don't want to block her though I have threatened....she will throw a total fit about it....it will be big drama....I tried hiding notifications. But that is so useless. Bc every time she texts the conversation thread is boosted to the very top of my messages and I see whatever nasty shit she sends anyways as soon as I try to check my texts.

What I need help with is figuring out a way to NOT see the messages she sends me at all. How to turn off message previews in the messaging app itself. Or how to hide the conversation. I have been googling and experimenting but cannot figure it out. I have a samsung galaxy phone. Does anyone know how to do something like this 😭

I FOUND A FIX! For anyone else struggling with this.

I made a message category on my phone. At the top of the message app there is a thing that says "All" that shows all your message threads. Next to it there is a + icon. This makes a totally separate tab in messages that only shows threads from people you placed in that category. I made a new category called "People I actually want to talk to". My mom is not in it. Now I don't see her message thread at all. HAHA. Wonderful.

You could try to archive the thread.

Open your messages app. Press and hold to select that thread. In the pop up menu along the top you should see an icon that's like a folder with a down arrow in it.

Click that to archive the thread.

@OldBrit Unfortunately I don't seem to have that option on my phone. When I hold down on the conversation I only have options to turn on or off notifications, delete the thread or pin it to the top.

@Ananke bugger. Not using the standard android message app it seems.

@OldBrit It is. I'm not using any other app. My phone is old though.

Mute her. That way you won't get notified when she sends texts.

@PinkMoon Already did. When I open my message app, it still shows what she sent at the top of the conversations. Muting it just hides it from popping up when you aren't on the messaging app.
