Let them say whatever they want. You are in control of you, and words, are simply words. They aren't guns, or something that can physically hurt you. And words, can hurt if you let them.
As I've gotten older, I've found that what complete strangers say online, is pretty much irrelevant as I don't let those words affect me. Now if someone threatens my life, and/or says they know where I live, that's something I'm going to report to the police. But if someone calls me names, or insults me on the internet, I generally try to let it go.
There was an incident I had on here right after I created my new account, a person calling me a fake account. I'm going to stand up for myself, but then I reported them, and it was taken care of.
Most of the time, it's insults I receive on YouTube. I don't know any of those people who leave comments, and here's how I also look at it. At the end of the day, getting upset doesn't do anything positive for me personally. So, I try to stay as positive as I can, and not look back on negativity etc.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self that words are words and the insults don't matter one bit. I'm going to grow up into an adult, and I didn't carry any insults with me into my adult years. They were just words.
But, I understand how you feel. I went through the same things as a kid.
