Just a PSA, I hope you know that chocolate and anything chocolate flavored is fatal to dogs.

Spawned from that oreo question. I don't think the owner did it intentionally, and to some it's not immediately obvious, but some forget the fact that if it's chocolate flavored, it contains cacao compounds, which will contain the theobromine that's fatal to many pets. Dogs can't metabolize theobromine, nor can cats. The problem is that unless you get specific "dog-safe chocolate" (which they destroy the compound theobromine in), you can't feed them anything chocolate flavored, unless you want them to die. This applies to cats, too. But cats can't taste sweet things, so it's much harder for them to get chocolate poisoning. Dogs love sweet flavors, but they don't know if something's bad for them or not. So please, don't feed your pets chocolate or anything chocolate flavored. You're just putting them on death row. It doesn't immediately kill them, but it will drastically, and I mean drastically shorten their life span.

Someone tried to say that grape flavored ice cream is illegal because dogs die from it since grapes are toxic to dogs, but chocolate ice cream is the most popular and dogs can die from that too.

they still don't know if it's the flesh or the oil in avocados that gets them to wheeze or get fluid accumulation around the heart.

Camel Meat from Australia - can contain the acid indospicine which can cause severe and sometimes fatal liver disease in dogs. The cause is that some camels in Australia graze plants that have a toxic amino acid which accumulates in the camels' system and is then passed on to dogs when the dogs eat their meat. The RSPCA is warning pet owners to avoid feeding their dogs camel meat.
....
Symptoms: Lethargy, decreased appetite, diahrea, vomiting, jaundice. Stools may be gray and light in color, urine may be darker than normal, possible orange. Some dogs may also sufer from weakness and confusion.
....
Possible Outcomes: hepatotoxicosis, severe liver diseases.
....
Actions: take your dog to the vet if you suspect camel meat poisoning.

You know what else can kill a dog?
A POOL TABLE. If it falls on it.

And so can a lot of other things, like a rifle, a wrecking ball, and a speeding vehicle.

That reminds me of a picture book I read once that really pissed me off. It's directed towards little kids with big text and easy little-kid words, and it's about a kid and his dog who loves chocolate, and the kid keeps feeding his dog chocolate. At the end of the book, it's happy ending with the kid feeding his dog chocolate. I forget what the book was called because it's been many years since then, but that could seriously cause some kid reading it to feed their dog chocolate just like the kid in the book and killing the dog.

I know exactly what book you're talking about. It was Bunnicula. In the sequel, the author even put a thing in it that warned children not to feed their dogs chocolate.

I can imagine some frogs being like "those humans can eat chocolate, and whatever chemical shit they put in their foods... but a microgram of ricin and they're dead hahaha"
atenra11
Well ricin is plenty deadly...
....
But some animals are surprising, like squirrels when hungry will eat some mushrooms like even the death cap amantia, and well, they don't suffer from it, their liver can metabolize it.
Im not sure if they feel nauseous or hallucinate but they'll touch some of those things if starving...
....
so can frogs tolerate ricin?
i guess they eat a lot of bad castor beans huh
TetrisGuy · 26-30, M
Some species of poisonous frogs will eat stuff that would be lethal to any mammalian species or any species that eats them in general. They then secrete the toxin and use it as a secondary line of defense after their bright color.

I had a little stuffed dog when I was younger, and I unknowingly named him Chocolate. He was brown and sweet, okay?
