Would you release me or pie me?

Imagine a scenario where I'm checking a set-up for a charity pie throwing event in the village hall. It's a couple of hours before the event. There's a table full of custard pies in front of a pillory. The pies look good but then, just for fun, I try out the pillory. I lift up the mechanism and insert my head and hands in the specially carved out niches when all of a sudden the upper block falls down. I try to get out but a locking system, that I previously didn't know existed, is preventing me. For ten minutes I struggle but it's no good. After waiting half an hour you turn up. Thank goodness! My saviour. You're going to let me out... yes... please?
