Any program that requires 8 hours of training will not help you with something as complicated as becoming a police officer later on. I think the best you can hope for is some real world pseudo-experience which will tell you if you actually want to be a cop or not. You have to remember that cops have way more power, ways to exercise that power, and responsibility than a security guard ever will.

Not the course, I meant the actual job itself.

And what type of experience are you referring to?

Yes, I know and it's what I meant. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear. Pointing out the 8 hour training was to highlight how little will truly be gained from the training. I maybe should have said "a profession that requires only 8 hours of training." All the same, if you think you'll enjoy it, do it. That's all that matters.

It'd probably get you a little cred in the academy. My brother's a police officer, and he worked as a security guard for a bit. He told me his superiors appreciated that, so I say go for it.

It would help but not as much, I'm a police officer in training, I did two years of police cadets and then became a PCSO and then moved up the ladder, it's not that difficult at all
