Is it true that the Earth is spinning around its axis, or is it a belief?

A spinning Earth for explaining the movement of the sun from sunrise to sunset requires you to become a human observer riding on it as a merry-go-round.

Do you believe that you are a rider on a carousel?

Established science .. confirmed by observation from space

Your "philosophy" is not based in fact. There is a reality you are ignoring .. and you can't even make cohesive statements for your position

Philosophy is the examination of facts. Reality is based on a body of facts, real things that make our world. What is a fact? A thing you accept as true? If your world is real to you, then you don't have to question its authenticity anymore than a born again Christian needs to doubt the existence of God. If my statements are contradictory, show me. Point out my inconsistencies.

There is no point discussing further when you choose that path and act like I'm the issue here.

You are not the issue if you are engaged in inquiry and debate.

This is my thread. You don't have to post if you want this to stop. I don't block anyone or delete posts.

I am a rider on a carousel that turns at fifteen degrees per hour

Coriolis forces. Look them up. It’s why storms turn opposite directions in the northern and southern hemispheres

I did. Things are the way they are. The sun moving across the sky is also an effect of the Earth's rotation if you want to see it that way. There are many effects in nature. Even falling from the roof is an effect. We can cook up all kinds of explanations the way witch doctors do.

The planet rotates partly because of motion within the core, gravity, and torque generated by the planet’s orbit around the sun, among other things.

This is all stuff that you can find in a science textbook.

The science textbook is a book of knowledge, stuff that we cooked up to explain natural phenomena.

I’ve done experiments that satisfy the burden of proof that the planet rotates. I have yet to see one that proves otherwise.

You don't think that Newton had done experiments to prove that bodies have mass and attract each other? New theories of atomic and quantum physics have come up with different stories.

Look, if you want to stick to your science textbook, that's fine. This is a philosophy thread. It is meant for challenging accepted concepts of reality. Bookworms can't do this.

Philosophize all you want, it doesn’t change the fact that the earth rotates 🤷🏼‍♀️@sree251

Ok, Abby. You have your rotating Earth, and theists have their God.

Yes, and I want to ride on the pretty carved horsie.

@ChipmunkErnie You are a tough hombre, Chip. You can't do philosophy. Ride your merry-go-round and take your knocks till you fall off the carousel.

@sree251 Gravity keeps me on it.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ChipmunkErnie It's not gravity. It's your grip on horsie that prevents you from flying off if the carousel speeds up. You are too old to remember the science you learned in school. Living is over. Dying is what you need to prepare for.

Well.. look up. Things are not "moving," in a straight line as would be the case for a "flat Earth"

What is a straight line? The line you draw with a ruler? Ok, I accept that. It looks "straight".

And there is no Earth. It is imaginary. The blue planet you would see, if you were in space, has nothing to do with the ground you stand on. Reality changes from moment to moment. Your memory is connecting the dots enabling you to see the past in the present.

Also, the earth goes around the sun too. Which is where your days and nights comes from.

Yeah, yeah. Before you knew this "a thousand years ago", you lived without this knowledge that has shaped your reality now. Are you better off now?
