I like architecture!!

@TryingtoLava Awesome!!
@TryingtoLava Some such houses are called painted ladies. That's more like a rouged ruffian.

Ohh how come there wasn't one? It's a great art and I love taking pictures of buildings. I saw the dancing house in person but I didn't take a pic oddly because the lighting wasn't that good hahah

they don't allow you to choose a picture for a subcategory of the catalog you created?
@fakable I don't know. I didn't notice the option. I don't know if I still have any special powers over the group either.
@fakable I went back and looked. I can click on 'Architecture' and see the group as a whole, and I can click on 'Manage Group.' But there's no place to put an icon there; only a verbal description.

@ElwoodBlues
thanks)

Those are monstrosities.
@Emjay I think I agreed to disagree

@ElwoodBlues The top one looks like something a drunk Russian designed. It doesn't come close is style or color to the original.
@Emjay I did an image search for 'architectural contrast' and got that one. I have no idea what it is, but it was small enough and the right image format to paste into an image link. And look, it turned out to be a conversation starter too!
oh HELL yes..
hardly controversial at all

The architecture of happiness.
Very cool ! I do, too. I will contribute a post or two.
@bijouxbroussard Please do! I hope the group is open and anyone can post in it. There was some verbiage about moderators that I didn't attend to. I certainly don't want the responsibility of moderating it.
@bijouxbroussard aweee i didnt think bout that i just wasted 6 posts :( i played alllll my cards at once

@ElwoodBlues do you happen to have any insight into this?

@ElwoodBlues random comment: it is painful when trying to Google a building you saw in a magazine years ago and cannot remember key details that would yield a result, like architect and location ... but you can mostly visualize the building in your photographic memory (but don't necessarily recall if the photo was of a completed structure, or a pre-construction model), and the shape perfectly embodies some of your visual taste ... the struggle is real ... 🙄

It's interesting, Gaudi actually inherited another architect's project in this case:
... On 19 March 1882, construction of the Sagrada Família began under architect Francisco de Paula del Villar. In 1883, when Villar resigned,[7] Gaudí took over as chief architect, transforming the project with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms ....
I suppose construction progressed very solely mainly because not enough private donations were trickling in:
... Relying solely on private donations, the Sagrada Família's construction progressed slowly and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War ....
@caesar7
@SW-User Really, someone should start a new post in this new architecture group devoted to Sagrada Família. There are more cool photos we could include, and if they're each a separate post then they don't "scroll under" but stay visible. I will do it if no one else will, but I invite @caesar7 to do so because he began this Sagrada Família thread.

P.S. I can link in drawings of the original del Villar design.

Same but with the notable exceptions of Brutalism and Contemporary.
