Good use of tech

I attended a funeral this morning for my wife's beloved aunt via an online link and think this is one of the better uses of technology. There was no way we could travel the three thousand miles to be there but we still got to be part of it all. Being able to see other family members and them knowing we were seeing them was very good for my wife. Being able to quickly get back to her normal life without a huge amount of disruptive travel was great for her, and by extension, me.

We did that with a couple of funerals during the COVID lockdown and it was a great way to be there without being there. Unfortunately it was a practice mostly discontinued after COVID. A bit of planning and preparation goes into a ZOOM funeral, unfortunately at a time when next-of-kin may be overwhelmed with a mix of grief and a long to-do list. So maybe a service provided by funeral homes/parlors that would take care of all the details? Like along with other options they could add zoom and podcast options?

@Heartlander This was the second one I've seen. The first was from a Catholic church and today's was from a funeral home/crematorium. It took some planning, wasn't quick but was worth it for the family members.
@ineedadrink I understand. There are different levels of podcasting. For one of the zoom funerals we attended we were basically observers and the funeral itself was a religious process, the religious last rite. For the other, it was both a funeral and a memorial with speakers who talked about Lee's achievements and the mark he left behind. I believe one of the speakers was himself remote.
My deepest condolences.

That's wonderful.. although I'm very sorry about your wife's aunts passing 😔🌻

We also used tech that way last year for my cousins wedding in Nevada. We couldn't travel there but we got to still be there via an online link!! Now that's a great feature of technology 🙂

We did the same for a cousin's funeral. I hope more people make that possible for family and friends who can't be there in person.
