How accurate is google translate?

In many languages it is good in a pinch if you need to be understood. Although even with pretty common languages it breaks very easily.

For example:

Translate from English to French and no problems.

Translate from French to English, same thing.

Translate from English to French and back again and you get incomprehensible word salad.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Perhaps you not using it properly. It's not really intended to be a toy for the bored. As a tool, it generally works for most established and mainstream languages.
@MarkPaul 🤦‍♂️ No, I know how to use it.

And this is not about using it as a toy. That is a pretty serious bug. And in my previous job I had to do alot of on the fly translations in languages I don't speak so that is a big deal.

My example proves that to be false.

But we both know you are just here to pick a fight with me.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. I'm trying to teach you something... useful. I'm a bit of a language enthusiast, I guess you could say, and I have used the application with it delivering great consistency in languages I am personally capable of using (to varying degrees): French, English, Spanish, Russian, and some of the Nordic languages.

I don't want to say this is an area of expertise for me because of your sensitivity to that. I think that level of self-awareness alone suggests my maturity. I just wish you could find your base of maturity from which to have a meaningful exchange without putting your own feelings in the centre of everything.
@MarkPaul You really are.

And more boasting and bragging. Figures.

And more arrogance. As usual.

Self aware is not a word to describe you.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow So, evidently you know what my motives are. I purposely self-edited my comment so as not to trigger your feelings of being talked down to. That is the opposite of arrogance. It just seems like you are hyper-sensitive when you are not the the centre of attention. In case you don't recognize it, this is a continuing problem of yours.
@MarkPaul Your motives are pretty obvious. You are very very transparent.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow OMG. The LAST thing I am is passive-aggressive. Once again, that is highly insulting to me.

I'm trying to give you some guidance with my insight and you have such a chip on your shoulder you won't see it. Personally (I'm not saying professionally), I think it's what we call "overcompensating" for an area where you don't feel particularly good about yourself. I can go into more details, but I know you tend to get upset when I present you with sound advice in that manner. And, I am working to be more empathetic.
@MarkPaul And more denial and gaslighting, oh and of course your prerequisite persecution complex.
