what do you think of doctor assisted suicide?

what do you think of doctor assisted suicide?
I see why people do it they usually cant afford to have the person on life support. I am against it if it is not about money, because just like it is not right helping a depressed person commit suicide it is wrong ho help a injured person commit suicide.
I think dr Ryan Anderson put it in a good way, he says it sends the message that some people are better off dead. I don't know how i came along this video but this is what made me think of this topic.

I think it's a bloody brilliant idea! If people wan't to die then they should be given ALL the help they need.

I don't think money is usually the reason for that - even in America. At a certain point, the quality of life is simply shit and will never get better. Some folks prefer to go out with a touch of dignity, and a time of their choosing.

Turning someone off life support is a different situation, and is rarely done for financial reasons either.
@QuixoticSoul then that would justify helping depressed people kill themselves. they think their quality of life is bad and no amount of therapy or medication will help them in their opinion.

@Girlyfriendcollecting No responsible doctor would sign off on euthanasia due to depression. And there is a difference between "thinks their quality of life is bad and will never get better" and "their quality of life is actually bad and will never get better".

It’s a tricky subject for me. I’d like to say a person should have the right to end their own life, but I know from experience that depression is a curable illness in most cases. I think in cases that someone is terminally ill and doesn’t want to wait out a horrible process, then they should be allowed to make that decision.

@SW-User what if you cant see and hear ? would you like to live like that?

I certainly wouldn’t, but that seems like an extreme example. @ItsGonnaBeOk

Most physician assisted suicides are for people with a terminal illness. If your pet is in pain and dying everyone would agree that putting it to sleep is the humane choice. Why can't we see that it's sometimes the humane choice for extremely ill people too?

Doctor assisted suicide, is NOT for people who cannot afford to have the person on life support.

It is a decision, the patient has to make personally, and a Physician will write a prescription, only if the patient is facing a painful and certain death.

I live in a state where physician assisted suicide is legal, and I voted for that law. There is no such thing as helping a depressed person commit suicide.

Turning off life support, is NOT the same thing as physician assisted suicide. That happens, when someone is declared clinically dead, as in their brain does not appear to be alive, and the family, and medical team, decide there's no point in keeping the person's heart beating, artificially.
If I have a terminal disease, it's clear I am going to die soon and I am in a lot of pain, despite pain killers, I want the option to choose my time of death.

i don't have a problem with it provided its the persons own choice and no pressure has been applied.

It's cool, I'm for it, including assisted suicide for severely depressed people. They've already assisted suicide with young people who were severely depress in some european countries. It will solve alot of problems. For example many people who murder, including some mass shooters were actually suicidal to begin with.

@DestroyerOfIdeologies Brilliant answer!! First class!! 👏 I agree completely with what you've said. Being a sufferer of depression myself, and growing up in a family of mentally ill lunatics, I can say with no sense of irony that assisted suicide would have saved us all alot of pain and suffering.
@DestroyerOfIdeologies wow thats scary, there is already too many suicides.

if the person is in cronic pain and cant have a normal life or he have few weeks to live or can barely move at all, i say the assisted suicide not a bad thing.

It's better than finding them hanging in the closet
