According to AI:

"In August, Iceland experiences about 64% cloud cover, making it quite overcast for a significant portion of the month. The clearest day typically occurs on August 6, with only 38% of the time being clear or mostly clear."

So your chances of seeing the few minutes of totality are somewhat less than 50-50, unless you fly over the clouds in a plane.

If you want Iceland is beautiful and you can see the northern lights there ☺ have you been before?

I was in Cornwall UK for the eclipse in '99 and although it was cloudy it was still worth seeing.

We stood on a cliff top as the sky grew darker and did glimpse totality and the diamond ring effect.

Do you know the expected weather conditions that usually dominate in Iceland on the date of the future eclipse???

It would be a big disappointment if you go and the sky have 100% cloud cover..

Eclipses usually do better in dry countries.. Dry desert countries..

There's 1972 precedent for that, cf. Carly Simon.

This one would probably be the better one to organize a holiday for.. Better chance of sunny weather..

August 2, 2027: Visible through North Africa, the Middle East, and southern Spain.
