The mother of a friend of mine had a degree in chemistry, and she used her knowledge of chemistry to help her figure out what would work in the kitchen.

It's a blend of culinary art and scientific principles.
On the science side, biochemistry is the most important principle.
The culinary artist though, is the person responsible for the final product.
This is why as a physicist, I suck at baking, if I don't follow a precise mixing/baking recipe.

@iamthe99 I don't consider myself intelligent by any means. I had a mediocre public education and a haphazard higher learning experience. So I consider the things they are arguing as pure basics in knowledge. In that, anyone can discover this knowledge with just basic google searches.
The fact they don't just literally floors me. It isn't hard. But yet, it's like their fingers are broken doing any basic google search.
