It's ready to roll!

and of course could be used for much much more. And what a handy way to store people's vaccination status, driving licence, passport - and why not their digital money, once that has been sorted out?

Oh and of course, keep their brain thinking the right kind of thoughts

I woulod not trust Elon Musk as far as I (or a Chinese space-station astronaut) could throw him; but I think the fears you express about what that chip might allow, are misplaced.

I'd be more worried about its medical safety than anything else.

@ArishMell They certainly have the technology to make this chip function, there's no doubt about that. After that, as to its uses... if you trust men to do what is right, we'll be ok. If not... then we have nver ever been in such danger before. Brain control of each one from outside via an internal chip? we lose everything and become robots.

@WalterF I think we are a very long way from "brain control" which anyway would seem to demand compulsory use.

This will vary from country to country but even without that fear it would also have to pass very stringent ethical as well as functional and safety, tests.

I'm certainly losing no sleep over it. I think I'll be sleeping for all eternity before any capacity for ill-use happens.

@ArishMell The more I think about it, the more I feel the majority will resist this. But, in the present climate, as from the beginning of 2020, we are no longer being given much choice in what we may or may not do... Sinister times.

@WalterF Really we need know what these can do, and just as importantly what they can't. So far at least they seem only to help muscle function.

Our brains are not like computers with rigid circuits and Boolean functions, so artificially influencing thought, IQ and function is way off-target.

@ArishMell But in a Ted talk back in 2008, a nerd that looked like Bill Gates but wasn't him, said "we will be able to suppress the God gene." I think the tdchnoloģy to do all this is here. If they wanted to activate it.

@WalterF Well, I have no idea what he meant by that, but I suspect wisshful thinking on his part. Don't worry about it!
