I think a lot of us older ones received the slipper or cane during our school days, taught us discipline, discipline sadly missing in today’s world

I got the cane quite a few times in secondary school too, including in 6th form.
In the first couple of years, my class kept a slipper chart where we recorded who got what and when. I came first several times. There was also special recognition for whoever got the first slippering of the week but no actual prizes.
My 6th form maths group reinstated the chart because our maths teacher used the slipper a lot.

@ArishMell Sadistics, more like. Lol :)
Sharon · F
@NankerPhelge Actually our maths teacher was OK but I agree some teachers were just abusive sadists.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Sharon Yes, we had one like that. He was just like the one in "The Wall" (the Pink Floyd movie). If you've seen that you'll know what I mean.
davidstorm · C
yep i had one of them with a cane he was the games teacher

@NankerPhelge The only people I know who use the term "christian name" are a few, old, churchgoers. In my experience, even moderate christians tend to say "first name". 1968 was over half a century ago, things have changed since then with society becoming more secular and diverse.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@Sharon I do hear the term "first name" sometimes, but the term "Christian name", as archaic as it sounds, is not completely obsolete. Not everybody's brains have changed in the last half-century. Lol :)
Sharon · F
@NankerPhelge Could simply be regional differences. Around my way "first name" seems to be far more common.

What a surprise...!
Turned out my then form tutor was gay. And was getting off on it every time.
What a surprise...!

I went to a private boy's military prep school in the 70's and we got caned on a regular basis, mine was almost every week for smoking, talking back or swearing and we always got caned in front of all the other boys. Housemaster had the end of a bamboo fishing rod wrapped in leather and electrical tape which he used to cane us, fully clothed but 10 swats hurt like hell, never stopped me from smoking though and there was nothing sexual about it, it was purely for punishment.
davidstorm · C
@NankerPhelge canning was referred to by a lot of names whacko, swats, belting, caning, twitching, time for toe touching, time to lose your shorts, its stick time, birching, but in most schools it was called flogging, I was flogged quite often I think Mr Wetton our headmaster was either a pervert or a sadist I think both
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@davidstorm What does corporal punishment under any name have to do with putting food into tins?

Yer I think our masters got off on it too as it seemed any excuse got you the cane .
chubby1167 · 56-60, M
@Sharon and I bet he loved it.
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
@davidstorm Lucky ours was alot worse . All the teachers seemed to enjoy the cane and it was always done nude .
Sharon · F
@Rhodesianman My teachers used the slipper (plimsoll), some very often. The headmaster, deputy headmistress and year heads used the cane.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I didn't get the cane in school. I probably had the slipper more times than anyone else for persistently refusing to participate in PE/games.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@slippered Yes, my dad took after his own dad, he too was a hard spanker by all accounts (he sadly passed away shortly before I was born). I wasn't caned either, at home or in school.
slippered · 61-69, M
@NankerPhelge were you slippered bending over or across his lap?
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@slippered Bending over (usually over my bed). He never spanked me over his lap.
Lynda70 · F
I got the slipper loads of times at school, everyone I knew then did. Most of us got the cane a few times too.

@nn33elia Psychologically speaking, it takes a hell of a lot longer than 21 years for a child to heal when beaten physically for something he or she hasn't done. To get over unjust punishment would take a billion years even if humans could possibly live that long.
davidstorm · C
@NankerPhelge i got beaten regular at school for fighting with the school bully i kept attacking him, so he said to the head so apart from being his punch bag because i was only 5ft tall he was 5th year 6'2 i was also the school flogging horse until id had enough and beat the bully with the schools rounders bat
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@davidstorm If I'd been there I'd have beaten the head to death with the school's rounders bat for that. I'm not a violent guy but there are certain things one just does not do.
Sharon · F
What was the prize you got for getting the most slipperings? Who awarded it?
We used to highlight the most slipperings and the most whacks.
We used to highlight the most slipperings and the most whacks.
I don't think you were alone in 'discovering' that kind of thing was going on. I'm pretty sure a few (only a few) teachers used the excuse of corporal punishment for their own satisfaction.
Sharon · F
@Frank52 In schools where only boys were caned, teachers obviously had other methods of dealing with misbehaving girls that they had absolute total confidence would be effective. They could have used those same methods with boys. The fact that they chose to use CP instead strongly suggests an ulterior motive.
@Sharon I understand what you're suggesting. I went to an all boys school from 11 and didn't know any different. I have known a few honourable men who believed in occasional corporal punishment of boys who I don't believe has ulterior motives. I also experienced those who, on reflection, were a bit too eager to tell us to bend.
Entwistle · 56-60, M
I refused to be caned. They suspended me for three days for that.

How did he slipper you
jake60 · 61-69, M
@chubby1167 oh do tell
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@chubby1167 Were you given the cane by the headmistress? You lucky devil! That was what I always longed for in school.
NortiusMaximus · M
@chubby1167 I was caned by the deputy headmistress too.
NortiusMaximus · M
I have no doubt a lot of teachers got off on it.
