I'm having second thoughts about school

I'm just worried that after putting in all the work, it won't be worth it. I'll be in debt with the student loans, and I'm not sure I want to do that. My credit is flawless and I'd hate to risk messing it up.

I don't know what to do. 😩

In my experience, who you know is more important than what you know. But you are looking at a career that requires some training.

@hunkalove yes. And I genuinely enjoy the healthcare field, I just don't want to do anything too "invasive" (like nursing). Phlebotomy was something I enjoyed in the past, and I really enjoyed medical billing and coding too (I went to school years ago but the school was not accredited so I didn't get certified. It's a long story).

I think the billing and coding part is the most beneficial because you already know the phlebotomists are being replaced by MAs because of they are cross qualified at perhaps little the same cost and can fill more shoes than a single specialist. AI may interfere but it will never replace the required hands on work.
Except I recall they now have a damn robot FDA approved drawing blood.

@Gibbon right, so now I'm worried that putting myself through all the schooling won't be worth it in the end. Cleaning hotels might be more lucrative - at least AI can't do that yet.

@DearAmbellina2113 I can understand your outlook. It's none of my business but what kind of income do you need to get by and not feel stressed. At the end of each month. That's how I approached things during difficult times the rare times I was in between jobs. My last place of employment before I retired was the lowest I made since I was 25 years old but I made it work. I take home more monthly on social security and a very small pension then I did my last month working there.

@Gibbon Arizona housing is outrageously expensive. Even a small apartment is almost 3K a month here. That's not counting utilities and basic needs unrelated to housing (like food and gas, etc). I don't think I could live by myself here at all, which is why I'm stuck with my current roommate.
what is the school for? will you be able to apply for grants and aid? also theoretically will this help you get a decent job that lets you afford to pay loans back and live? try to do a cost analysis with Ai or something.

@DeadOrbit medical assisting, phlebotomy, and medical billing and coding.
@DearAmbellina2113 From what I can see, it would be worth it in the long run. I don't know your current cost of living, but at $19 to $23 an hour, you would break even if you were living alone in a one-bedroom apartment. In a few years, you could eventually work your way up to $35 to $50 an hour, depending on the route you choose. If you find a cheaper schooling option and secure a grant or financial aid, it wouldn't be difficult to pay back, setting you up for financial freedom in the future—not rich, but comfortable enough to have a cushion.
