Teachers with guns...

...make this make sense. This is the gun lobby's argument.

Teachers in PUBLIC schools should be armed because that is a public space and they don't have the right to refuse. But teachers in PRIVATE schools can say no to having armed teachers, because they are private property and have the right to say no.
Hypothetically, using their argument, the poorer American kids can be 'protected' but the wealthier ones are targets.
Is that what they want or have they just not thought it through?

You would have to be qualified to carry a weapon. They just don't hand out guns to teachers. Some teachers may not want to participate in such a program for whatever reason. I'm certain they cannot force all teachers to carry weapons. Hopefully the training and supervision for carrying a weapon will be carried out effectively. 🔫

A public school is not necessarily a public space because it isn’t open and accessible to the general public.
There are rules and guidelines for who can set foot on the property legally.

@HikingMan That's not their argument though.

I think with proper training some volunteers should be allowed to carry a pistol while teaching. Coaches and principles, who will be in different areas than the Classroom, should be trained with a capacity rifle and are able to aces it quickly in an active shooter situation.

No one should be forced to carry a gun if they don't want to.

@Musicman Sure, but I was meaning how would the gun lobby square their argument...public school spaces = teachers must be armed, private school places = up to the schools.
That could lead to a bizarre situation where the poorer American children are protected and the wealthier ones aren't.
