History. I wasn't that interested in the color of Emperor Augustus' socks 👎🏽

@helenS History was and still is my top favorite subject.

@Sidewinder Sure, but the way we learned about history in school.

@helenS It's like schools do it backwards by starting with ancient history and move forward. Seems like history should start yesterday and work backwards, start with who and where we are now and where we came from and how and why others came to be.

Also, history should be blended with geography, somewhat, so kids can learn how the world all fits together, with people and places.

@helenS I didn't just learn history in the classroom.

I made it a hobby of mine.

Every moment of free time I got, I would read and memorize articles from encyclopedias and books about various historical events and watch documentaries films that are set in various historical time periods.

@helenS History COULD be interesting except they talk about these leaders, treaties that were signed, Prince Albert or whoever...

Anything social studies were always my worst subjects.

Socks?

That was a waste of time.

I don't think Augustus often wore socks.

@Thinkerbell Winter can be cold and unpleasant even when in Rome...

@helenS

Yes, on the rare occasions that he ventured out from the imperial residence in winter, Augustus indeed wore socks, but he disliked being seen in them.

@helenS We were taught how sand dunes are formed in our Geography lessons. This knowledge has come in very useful i must say!

@helenS It's just a bunch of stuff that's already happened inn'it?
