My gymnastics teacher liked me, but then again, I liked her too and she understood our girls gymnastic team like we were all a very cohesive family unit.

Having said that, I will also say that I got expelled twice from high school for two weeks each time during my 4 year tenure and the worst part is, I've never known anyone who ever got expelled from high school even once, except me!

I think to this day, I still hold the official record for the number of weeks being expelled from my rural town high school.

@swirlie What did you get expelled for?

The first time I got expelled, it was for being the root cause of multiple class detentions involving my entire class having to stay after school over the course of 4 months. Parents were complaining apparently and everyone lost their sense of humor it seemed. That occurred in my first year of high school.

The second time I got expelled was in my last year of high school. All through high school, I excelled at semi-pro gymnastics and creative descriptive writing skills as demonstrated in my English Literature classes. I had won several public speaking contests in our region and had even won Authorship for 3 months of a weekly education column on the back page of our community newspaper which was sponsored by the 4H Club I belonged to as a rural girl.

Despite winning a descriptive writing contest which put my high school on the world map, I only won because of my use of creative descriptive content, not because of the subject matter itself.

The objective of our assignment was to write a 1000 word descriptive essay on the most negative influence one had encountered in one's life. The most negative influence I wrote about was the negative influence my English Literature Teacher had been having on me for the past 4 years, who was also the same guy who expelled me from my first year of high school for two weeks!

I won the contest but I got kicked out for two weeks because of my chosen subject matter after my English Literature Teacher went whining and crying to his boss!

The Principal told me in a private meeting that my publicly spoken essay to an audience of a few hundred in our school auditorium was outstanding, but my attitude toward older men who were shorter than myself really sucked! For that reason, I needed to go home for two weeks and think about what I'd written!

@swirlie Oh wow that’s a lot. But it highlights the fact that you don’t always need to be “taught” you shouldn’t be punished for something ultimately positive. If anything the teacher should have taken note of it and praised you, but maybe you hurt his pride and ego.

His ego was definitely bruised the first day we met each other in my first year of high school. Keep in mind that I was a tall and very thin 14 year old Scandinavian gymnast teenaged extrovert with shaggy platinum blonde hair. My English Lit Teacher was a British man from Liverpool England who was 12 inches shorter than I was and looked just like Adolf Hitler in his appearance and his demeanor.

@swirlie The fact he’s from Liverpool is enough reason for me to take your side of things.
