Is this acceptable behaviour?.

I saw this on another forum. Having witnessed what teachers can be like, I have [no] difficulty believing the account to be true,

A woman was visiting a school in the course of her employment when she was shouted at by a teacher - "You girl! Come here!" The teacher then proceeded to berate her for not wearing school uniform - she was wearing jeans. When she tried to explain who she was, the teacher just shouted her down with "I don't want to hear your pathetic excuses, girl!"

The only person responding to the report claims that she deserved a "dressing down" because she wasn't wearing school uniform. He tries to excuse the teacher's action, saying the teacher must have mistaken her for a pupil. However, even if that were the case, surely teachers should show some respect for their pupils.

What do others here think?

EDIT. I omitted the word "no" in my second sentence. Now inserted in square brackets.

I was visiting my daughter's school and got yelled at by a PE teacher for wearing outdoor shoes in the gym. It made my day to be mistaken for a schoolgirl, if only from behind 😊

@SunshineGirl That tells you how teachers treat their students. I've seen similar examples like that several times, when they think I'm not looking.

@Caroline259 Looking after two dozen independently minded children is no easy task and sometimes direct communication methods that would be inappropriate with other adults are justified. The example you quoted above does seem to have overstepped the mark, but nothing wrong with the occasional shouted order. My 12 year old has selective hearing and firm instructions can help her to make the right choices 😉

@SunshineGirl It appears the teacher was addressing one person, so his approach was totally out of order. From what I understand from the report, it wasn't a shouted order, it was an aggressive demand for an explanation, immediately followed by a refusal to allow the lady to explain who she was.

@Caroline259 Except for the fact that the teacher isabused daily by students with no way of enforcing REASONABLE school rules except by literally shouting. And even that's dodgy. I was a substitute teacher for 17 years & was cursed at by students fairly regularly because I had the nerve to want to talk about the lesson.

@nickir Teachers who behave like the one in this case deserve all the abuse they get. They should try setting a good example instead. Most school rules aren't reasonable either.

@Caroline259 But my experience says that most of the abusers are the kids.
Granted, none of the schools had uniforms, but it doesn't change the fact that any time the door opens FOR ANY REASON we would have to go back to square one to get the class to calm down. So little teaching got done. Making the teachers VERY expensive baby sitters who are always demanding raises.

@nickir I see you're in the US, I'm in the UK and my comments refer to UK schools.
