Were you paddled often
@pcasper59 If you have on enough to help, neither you nor the paddle sounds correct! The noise and the impression are both muffled. No way will anyone witnessing be fooled. Trying always "backfires!".
@pcasper59 Do you still smoke?

@Alfred22 Never again after that along with a pep talk from Dad later that evening !

That was always scary entering the Principals office . Like the walk of doom of what was about to happen !

@Alfred22 Now that sure would shed a different light on paddling having witnessed or heard the paddlings especially going on in the Principals office . In HS our Principal office was next to the library / study hall . The Guidance counselor office first with Principal office behind that office . Yes at times you could here a lot of noise coming through the wall when looking for a book . Another student getting aquatinted with the board of education .
@pcasper59 An up close and very personal acquaintance!

Vividly remember the headmaster’s office along the main corridor. Tended to walk fast past there in case he came out

At my junior school, the headmaster’s study was at the end of the entrance hall, so you always passed it when you came into or out of school. Occasionally you would see a boy waiting nervously outside, and know exactly what he was going to get.

Rofl. I made an entire career there. Heck good times tho 😂 Though I never got corporal punishment I did get repeatedly punished harshly for transgression though I'd always end up the same place no matter what I did 🤷‍♀️😂🤦‍♀️
