Are There Teacher Shortages In Your State Or City?

There is all over Oklahoma. I don’t know if it is burnout from the Covid quarantine area and then going back to classroom teaching or what. I know a teacher who last year was told to do Zoom teaching at the same time she was teaching in the classroom and it was very confusing for her and the students. She said it was taking away from all the students to try to do that. I just got the boy enrolled this week. He was told by a friend that 50 teachers had quit over the summer because there were 800 new freshman students last year and they thought the workload was too great. This year there are 1000 new freshman students at the high school. I have a feeling that this is going to get interesting really quickly.

Well let’s see here…you’re offered a job for which you need at least a bachelors degree with a minor in psychology and training as field medic, and the job pays next to nothing, out of which you’re supposed to buy all your classroom supplies and medical kits and still pay your bills. Your reward is being dismissed by your students at best and actively threatened by in worst cases, while being told a good number of things are no longer allowed to be taught.

Yep, can’t see why there would be a shortage 🤷‍♂️

@Zaphod42 The courts have taken control away from the Teachers in the classroom. Changed all the curriculum and haven'kept salaries competitive. Now they are wondering why no one wants to be a teacher???
