In the 80s our school went to a museum for a natural history exhibit.

We got to touch all sorts of fossils and artifacts and minerals... We even got to "play" with a small chunk of asbestos.... Like wtf? They knew damn well in the 80s that shit kills people, why would they let a bunch of kids scrape away at a softball sized chunk of it with their bare hands without any sort of respiratory protection?

Late 90s I was helping my ceramics teacher clean out some old lockers in his classroom. Came across a couple that were stuffed with bricks of asbestos. He told me to just throw them away. Noped right on out of that, told him there was no way that was legal.
