No special classes like speech in my High School. There were 23 students in my senior class. We did have agriculture, shop, typing, and home economics for the girls.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Cabernetfranc Very neat!

Wasn't offered, but our regular curriculums demanded a term paper, with which we were to give presentations.

If you knew your material well, the nerves soon disappeared and confidence carried you to an A+.

Don't think I'd intentionally sign up for a speech class, though. I'd sooner have faced a firing squad instead!

@SethGreene531 At one time, the fear of public speaking was only surpassed by the fear of death.
@ProfessorPlum77 Oh yes, I can relate to that entirely. Given the choice, most people would rather be the deceased in the casket, than the one giving the eulogy. 😆
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
Yes I did.
Actually didn't do too bad at it either. One of the very few classes I didn't days off and look out the window in.

No thank god! As long as I stayed within the lines. They said they would pass me 😌
Poppies · 61-69, F
No. It was recommended for everyone and it would have done me good, but I dodged it.
Yes. We had a great (and young, I now realize) teacher.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Mamapolo2016 Excellent!
Fluffybull · F
A speech class? You mean elocution lessons?
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Fluffybull Oh, I see. I thought you were being humorous. "Speech class" taught students how to formulate and deliver various types of speeches as well as challenging them to speak extemporaneously on occasion.
Fluffybull · F
@ProfessorPlum77 Ah, 👏👍
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Fluffybull Well, that's not what we called it in my school district.

hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@ProfessorPlum77 It was in grade nine that we took classes in public speaking. I held my own.
