If your parents threatened to send you to school in your pyjamas, did they ever carry out the threat?

In boarding school I got picked on by a prefect who thought my slowness in getting up in the morning was down to laziness (it was because I trained hard for gymnastics and needed more sleep than most girls). One morning she made me go to registration in my pyjamas and slippers and explain to the teacher why I was dressed like that. Not much of a punishment when you are 8 years old and spending all day in your pyjamas seems the most awesome thing ever 🤣 The only downside was missing breakfast!
technically i been to school in pyamas or less if you count zoom meetings last year...

With the way some kids dress today, would anyone notice? 😅

@SunshineGirl I had seen some of the parents when my kids were in elementary school. They did not dress much better. Lol

@chrisCA Kids you can excuse, parents should try a bit harder 🤷‍♀️

@SunshineGirl Some moms did, but I think some were competing with other moms. Lol

Oh gosh how could i have forgotten the old sayong from my mum "if you don't hurry up youll be going to school in your pyjamas" fortunately the threat was enough for me and it never actually happened. I do remember one girl in primary school though that did arrive for registration late and in her pjs uniform handed in afterwards at reception in a carrier bag.

@Ross19 Awh, hope she wasn't upset about it. The registration room was only 50m away from my dorm, so not far to go back to get changed 🙂

@SunshineGirl my memory of it is a bit hazy but i do recall she seemed upset about it just in the classroom in her pjs and nothing else, shed obviously been put in the car like that and her mum deliberately waiting to get her to school before allowing her to dress.

Mine never did as we always had uniform in Catholic school.
I was in a private school and we had a uniform, they couldn’t send me in my pjs, because if they did, they would have to turn right back around to the house to get my uniform.

@SweetNSassy We had a uniform too. It was double jeopardy - you looked different to the rest of your classmates and got into trouble for uniform infringement 🙄
@SunshineGirl We just couldn’t go to class and got a zero for the day for whatever class we missed. They were so strict at my school.

I was the one who got up and made my Mother's coffee in the morning.

What an imaginative prefect!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@MartinII She was OK. Strict, but fair. And getting us all up in the morning and ready for school was like herding cats 🐱 She went on to become an army captain.

@SunshineGirl Good for her. I was a prefect once, but sadly only in a day school for boys!
