Yea, I have worked at a school since last year.
In my experience, they only care about numbers, which equates to money.
I am not a teacher per se but I facilitate a phonics program.
I told the assistant principal that "Bobby " is really struggling, and that i think he should be placed in a lower group (group, not grade).
I was told, verbatim: " yea but if we do that, it will hurt our numbers ".
They aren't numbers, they are children 馃檮
Can't wait till school is out. I don't want to return.

@iamnikki yep my son is a grade ahead of where he should be he by age should be in kindergarten but he's in 1st grade he's been reading since the age of 3 because he attends a program that cares about the kids not the numbers. His class of 12 has a teacher and an assistant. The class I'm student teaching in has 28 and it's me and the teacher

@iamnikki I don't see how kids get enough attn with this I know we struggle with our kids especially with several kids on IEPs in our class. My kids are both in classes of 12 students my daughter whose 4 it's 4 to 1 teacher to student ratio my son it's a 6 to 1 ratio.

@iamnikki my son also doesn't learn common core bs neither did I. I knew about it cause of reading on the internet but I never dealt with it til University classes that taught me how to teach it
