raising a boy who’s now in 2nd grade. Basically we had to teach him his math, the teacher didn’t, just gave out assignments and wouldn’t send a textbook home. It was very frustrating. I believe that it is the policies in place that are tripping us up. Have had him in a private school from 6th-8th grade, his last year of private school.

@cherokeepatti many schools don't have enough books for every student. Our entire grade shares one set of science and one set of social studies books for the entire grade

@Mountainlady16 he had a textbook assigned to him but was forbidden from bringing it home. It seems they don’t really want anyone to teach them well at home. Every generation is taught math a different way than the previous one. And that game needs to stop.

@cherokeepatti oh yeah that common core crap too my son's school doesn't teach it neither did the private school I went too.
