Why were all the jocks in high school were hot but acted “special” and the nerds looked plain but were intelligent?

Jocks are good at sport which improves their physics - and because young blokes think the mating game is all about looks they easily become vain and arrogant. Most are not very bright.
The nerds are intelligent by definition. Most care more about matters other than looks and so pay less attention to their appearance. Most prefer to be judged on their character.
