Do you run?

I started running again a couple of months ago after a hiatus of a few years. I am always surprised and impressed about how quickly my body adopts to the challenges of running. How each time I run i can run a bit further and faster. I feel myself getting fitter. I look fitter.

The greatest benefit is the improvement to my mental health. I have went from feeling stuck in a rut to feeling I can take on the world. I love the cathartic nature of running, of being alone in my head, blocking out the whole world and concentrating on only my breathing. It is like meditation.

I Have SEEN people run.... :D 😍🥳👏

I jog.

YES.

Don't you love your feet ponding into the earth? how it(running or jogging) connects to every part of you: breath, impact of feet on mother earth, scents and sights, if you are in nature; there are no words.
My soul loves it.

It IS meditation and "medication" for me.

I have composed more than a few poems as I am jogging.

Thank you for your post. :D

Awesome!!!

No I don’t like the monotony of running. I prefer to do a work out video or go for a long old hike.
@GLITTER For us, it's anything but monotonous.

Running , or jogging in my case: It is grounding and serene, and more.
@GLITTER controlling the monotony is a big part of the challenge

I struggle to walk 20 paces without having to stop for a rest, running wouldn't be possible.
@AntisocialTroll I am sorry to hear that. Feeling grateful that I can still do it 🤗

I need to get back into it. I feel so out of shape
@deadgerbil Stop thinking about doing it and just do it. I dont think its anymore complicated than that.

@SmoKin For me, cycling is "life" .
SmoKin · M
@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON I get that too..but sometimes the effort of getting the bike sorted puts me off. Running is free and easy.
Lugwho · 61-69, M
No, I barely move. Even when I played sport I hated running, unless there was a ball involved.
@Lugwho I used to hate it. Really really hate it.
For my life yes…otherwise no
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
My ass is huge so I prefer to speed walk to preserve the cartilage in my knees.
@PinkMoon That makes sense. It would be no good if your knees gave up.
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
@TheDeathOfOzymandiaz I sprained my ankle in 2019 and when the doctor was explaining the x-ray to me he made a comment about cartilage never growing back and that that's why old people get hip replacements. That's when I knew I had to A: lose weight and B: Do exercises that aren't taxing on my knees. I had an existential crisis that day.
