Shopping for condoms is very embarrassing

Why? You don’t want the cashier to know what you plan to do, which everyone is doing anyway?

When my wife was in high school and college, she worked in a small pharmacy. Condoms were kept behind the counter, and customers knew to ask the pharmacist for them. Lots of men liked to see my girlfriend get embarrassed and asked her for condoms, and she always directed them to the pharmacist. I told her that if a man asked her for condoms, she should say, "I guess you want the smaller size."

Even at your age? Why?

Firstly I don't understand why I need them if I'm only going to be likely to date women in my age range as pregnancy is pretty much an impossibility and the chance that a women younger than 50 would have any sexual interest in me is basically nil. Secondly, to actually have a woman in her 50's ask about them seems really wierd and as I've hardly dated and basically has little or no sex since my last partner discarded me intimately I never considered it would become part of the equation. Third, I'm embarassed and scared to talk about sex in person with anyone, so anything to do with that is kind-of included in that balloon.
