Was he just being nice?

So for nearly a year, I've encountered this guy at a drive thru I frequent. He's kind, and always positive. A few months into getting him, he tried to guess my order. I was flattered. Another time he said Hey! As if he was happy to see me. But it's never gone more than that.
Not like I could really do anything about it, I have severe dating anxiety 😞 I feel not enough for anyone due to my chronic PTSD.

I don't venture more conversation because I'm so shy, although I'd like to. ..he has not either for a few months now. (But still always says eagerly, have a great day!) I thought there was a tiny spark, but do you think he probably was just being nice?

He's interested.
Opportunity is there before you.
You can claim anxiety, or social fear, but even those things are simply an opportunity..., and askance of yourself, from yourself, to step completely outside of your self~fear and/or loathing.

,A real-life chance for you to change the way that that certain fear approaches you and how you respond to it.

But seriously my friend, how bad could it be? What is the worst thing that could possibly happen?

Rejection without consequence?

You'd still be safe and sound and no worse off than however you feel like you are now.

If you add in that guy I know 2 guys that would probably be pretty stoked to take you for coffee...

😏

Jusb saying....

@HikingMan The worst thing is if someone stops contacting me or like me, after they learn I'm not anything what I seem. I am genuinely kind and smile, but they don't know how chronic my anxiety is😟 I doubt many guys would stay with someone they couldn't do many fun dates with, travel etc. and it would reaffirm im not enough. I'm sure there's a small amount who wouldn't leave, but it's daunting knowing many would.

@Baybreeze So, simple rejection?
But therein lies the problem doesn't it.

You're so worried about an initial rejection that you can't bring yourself to a place that makes the rejection you just spoke about even close to reality.

"It is better to have loved and lost, than to not love at all."
Though that isn't even my point because for you this fear has gone viral inside of yourself and you are struggling to make any new Real-Life Friends who would honestly be just friends and offer you their advice and support without any expectations of you at all.

Personally, I think you're fantastic and worthy of friendships and love and I really do hope you face these fears and insecurities of yours and get back into the game that is real world connections.

It's my hope that if you ever come across some sly devil type of guy that just wants to be your friend and help you to face an overcome these types of things in a soft and gentle manner that you take the chance to meet and stay or walk away because he wasn't holding you to anything but a place and time.

Anyways, if any such proposal comes up, I think you should consider it.

A person could spend 3 years in therapy just scratching at their surfaces that itch.
We all heal in the real world next to people that care and are willing to listen.
Therapists are ujst bullshit translators that take your money, don't really care, and profit for as long as you go unhealed....

Peace to you, my very lovely and magnificent friend.

He's probably nice to all the customers
Docdon23 · M
write him a short note next time you go through
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Docdon23 I wish I could but I'd be mortified if I were way off about his feelings. 😟

idk he could just be a friendly bubbly extrovert type

I think he's maybe just nice. Perhaps more so to you than some of the others, but that is understandable and fine. Enjoy encountering a nice person who is pleased to see you. Life is grand.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
It's possible he was being nice, it's possible he was being flirty.

Either way, he's not the only man who's interested in you, just one that you happened to notice. Think about that.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@uncalled4 no ones really interested in me, but in past yes. And that's true, it could have been either nice or flirty. Thanks.
GerOttman · 70-79, M
sounds like good customer service. he may have also decided that you're "safe" and not going to think he's hitting/hinting just because he's nice to you. believe it or not it's actually possible people just find you to be a likeable lady...
The only way to know for sure is to make a move. You can go slowly.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
@EldritchFox I think it kind of funny the way a lot of us here give advice knowing that if only we could take it we'd be better off ourselves.

Not saying that's what you just did. Your reply just made me feel like typing this reply.
@HikingMan yeah that's true. I do try to just be upfront..

I think my anxiety makes me very forward because I'd rather know than live in the suspense of not knowing.
WanderingHelplessly · 51-55, M
My take is he may have done what I sometimes do. If the female doesn't seem interested, I start backing off a little to save face. Mainly to save my ego and confidence from being destroyed.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@WanderingHelplessly I'm very kind and smile back.. I just don't add additional conversation. But again he hasn't actually started any conversation...so he probably was just being nice😔
WanderingHelplessly · 51-55, M
@Baybreeze That might be. I was just guessing. Maybe add something to see what happens. Up to you.
Hard to tell. He might be that way to everyone.
Sapio · 51-55, M
Hard to tell, I'd have to be there to see the interaction to tell if he likes you or he's just being nice.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@Sapio He probably in a year would have said something more if he did. But it's ok..ty 🦋
