I only call any significant others Baby, and that depends on the chemistry. But I would never use the term again.

@Elisbch The Wikipedia article at
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_electrode_potential_(data_page)
has a link to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactivity_series#Comparison_with_standard_electrode_potentials which has this important note:
Since you might have an edition of that CRC Handbook (I have a few), I thought you might be interested in it.

has a link to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactivity_series#Comparison_with_standard_electrode_potentials which has this important note:
The following list includes the metallic elements of the first six periods. It is mostly based on tables provided by NIST.[9][10] However, not all sources give the same values: there are some differences between the precise values given by NIST and the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics. In the first six periods this does not make a difference to the relative order, but in the seventh period it does, so the seventh-period elements have been excluded. (In any case, the typical oxidation states for the most accessible seventh-period elements thorium and uranium are too high to allow a direct comparison.)[11]
(Emphasis added.)Since you might have an edition of that CRC Handbook (I have a few), I thought you might be interested in it.

Online i do that once i get to know someone, in real life i do it as a means to be nice to someone not necessarily a flirty gesture but something that makes the conversation go easier

Where I come from it's just a sweet term of endearment like saying baby girl, sweetheart, or shorty. If you ain't from around the way you wouldn't understand
DarkXtecy · 36-40, M
Nope...and even if I did have serious feelings I would either say honey or babes...not baby though
TheShanachie · 61-69, M
No I don’t. Even though I’m old I know it’s an older form of slang that offends many women so I avoid it.

Something you need to understand quickly is men's words mean nothing.

I use the term a lot for cashiers, waitresses and such. It’s a Southern thing.
subhubby · 56-60, M
I am always fully respectful and May call them Ms. Or Miss if I do not know their name.
Elisbch · M
Do you not like to be called baby or other pet names? Just curious. 🙂
Laralemonsqueeze · 36-40, F
@Elisbch Sometimes☺️
I actually never used a pet name for a woman before, save sarcastically.
GohantheThird · M
Sometimes, yeah. It helps me emulate empathy in a bad situation.
Sapio · 51-55, M
No, I only refer to my significant other as such. When I have one haha.
brian29715 · 46-50, M
I would not. That’s not a term I use often.
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Only the few that asked to be called that.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
No. The term is too ghetto for my liking.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
