They say more and more young men don't want to get married or even be in a relationship with a woman.

It's very strange to us older generation who had to beat them off with a stick...
I am going to say first of all I'm not sure if this is true or not?
I really don't want any woman bashing replies... I just found the trend, if true, odd.

Have you met some of the women in the younger generations? 😏
And honestly, with all the risks and hassel, it's not worth it. I can't really blame them. Women scream about toxic masculinity and then friend zone the guys when they conform to their demands. Men can't win so why bother? It's sad.

Not posting to bash anyone.
I don't understand the dislike of nice guys, but that was a thing when I was young as well.
I think both sexes want something that's unattainable , sometimes.

@Justmeraeagain
Indeed. Unrealistic expectations have been around forever.
I have noticed that men, in general, are waiting until later in life to marry and settle down.

In some countries, birth rates are declining.

I have also noticed that divorce seems to be more common now than it was in the 80's and 90's.

@HootyTheNightOwl I see , wasn't aware.
It's sad that it's coming to a place where people can't afford to live.
We were poor, by many people's standards,but things were less expensive
@Justmeraeagain That's part of the problem... when adjusted for inflation, wages are way behind the income our parents received in the 70's and 80's - so we have reached the point where food poverty is a very real issue.

We mock Rishi Sunak for saying that he was so poor that he couldn't afford Sky TV as a child (even though it wasn't released until he was 8 years old and attending a 4k per term prep school)... yet, we have people going without food to heat their homes and sitting in the dark because they are unable to afford to top their electricity meter.

@HootyTheNightOwl I think the USA has more established help, which, doesn't mean people don't fall through the cracks.
However,some of the comments of these YouTube influencers do show a lack of maturity where relationships are concerned.
They are not poor and have unrealistic, unreasonable expectations.
I certainly don't believe that is the whole issue or even maybe the main one
I think the concept of marriage is more and more considered outdated, but dating still seems pretty popular, and long term relationships don't seem to be that uncommon. (Just without the promise of it being forever no matter what happens, as everything changes faster and faster and more and more things can happen.)

@NerdyPotato
I guess I'm a dinosaur and like the old ways ... Glad I'm in a long-term relationship. I couldn't stand faster and faster...
@Justmeraeagain I don't like the rising pace either, but thankfully long-term relationships are still possible even now.

Lots of young women have high expectations and standatds for the men they wanna marry but little to nothing to bring to the table.....

They expect the man to take responsibility for everything as they enjoy the benefits but are willing to do their part of the responsibility

Marriage now seems so unattractive to young men bcos in the end its the man's loss
Especially if you are a good or "nice man"
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@SilentObZerver I never really understood the reasoning behind bad boys?
I think maybe,women are afraid to admit they want a strong, dependable man? Some believe we'd have to give up independence if we select a nice guy.
And mistake it as weakness and see abusers as strong?
Verbal abuse is abuse,cheating is abuse,berating is abuse, constantly putting his needs above yours is abuse...
on the other side, I do find never having own opinon and acting like a slave to anything I may request to be a turn off,but I don't aquite that with being nice.
I would think a guy would find a submissive with no real personality in a woman to also be a turn off.

Not every woman feels or acts the same way.
Lots of men are players,for example,but not all.
I think if we accept bad behavior it keeps people alone after a few relationships believing "All" men and "All" women are the same way..

We been taught to be princess or girl bosses, I think happiness cannot be find in either extreme.
SilentObZerver · 22-25, M
@Justmeraeagain yeah exactly....so if players and "bad boys" are getting to sleep with lots of girls without committing to one...
I.e girls are rewarding bad guys

Why will guys wanna marry?

Most Girls only find "nice guys" attractive, after years of sleeping around and realise their biological clock is ticking and wanna settle down , when all those bad guys didnt consider them worthy enough for marriage
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@SilentObZerver That's sad,really.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
Could be a growing thing, but I think the majority of men want a companion in life.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@JimboSaturn I think so,too
exexec · 61-69, C
It may be true. I have been surprised that a lot of teenagers are not anxious to get their driver's license. When I turned 16, I was at the testing site when they opened their doors. I couldn't wait to be able to drive freely. Maybe a lot of young men just don't get excited about having a relationship. Makes no sense to me.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@exexec I see a lot of blame on opposite sex from both camps.
mooncrest02 · 31-35, F
I didn't know that was a trend but I'd find it odd too.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@mooncrest02 I probably watch too much YouTube who knows if it's even real?
mooncrest02 · 31-35, F
@Justmeraeagain well maybe, i see a lot of weird content for ladies too its like people promoting using others now a days .
