Dating when cash-poor

Now that I have a mortage taking 60 pct of my after-tax pay, I've hit yet another impost for dating - an actually lack of money day-to-day that is similar to but different to when I last faced such a situation when I was unemployed about 10 yrs ago.

Back them however I was already in a relationship (with my 2nd ex).

So without access to ready cash so-to-speak, is it worth even trying to do dates or just let it drop until I can improve the finances to 'fund' having romantic connections to others?

congrats on getting a house! By dating I am taking that you are single. If so that is odd...my experience was the exact opposite. I spent way more money when I was in a relationship when cotrasted to when I was single. You don't owe me an answer but I am curous why shelling out large amounts of money on entertainment is an option on a first or second date?

@robertsnj Yep single since 2018 a year after my daughter was born. I wasn't able to buy a house until last last year. I just don't want to come across as a 'cheap arse' if I do ever get to go on dates and at least be able to contribute to something nice. Not meaning fancy - just pleasant and mutually enjoyable. I cut back basically to the bone in order to get over the line for a home loan while the rates are heightened (5 to 8 pct is the range of retail home loans here at present).

Guess you should just netflix and chill for a bit.

@Fungirlmmm Indeed - my daughter is my main priority and any dating comes second.
