Hotel rooms with a Bible are still a thing apparently. And this one falls open on exodus 21:7. Some shit about your daughter being sold into slavery.

Could I just have something more light hearted like a “visit Northumberland” brochure or something.

Best toss this thing out the window before my daughters see it.

Where do I even begin? A whole book could be written on this.

That is the Old Testament. This is a "should you do" law without giving it the thumbs up at all.

Ancient nomadic cultures like this one aren't even comparable to today's society, even some cultures of today are hard to understand for Westerners.

Christ died on the cross, taking the punishment we deserve for our sin, so that all who trust in him can be spared from eternal damnation and get eternal life instead. That will always be relevant.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Mate you can’t distance yourself from the fact the passage was okay with selling your daughter into slavery, so long as she dressed modestly and got different duties.

It’s either the word of god, or it isn’t.
@WintaTheAngle It's not approving of the practice and it is Old Testament.

We do not live in the culture of ancient Desert Nomads.

@BritishFailedAesthetic Confirming it’s not relevant anymore.
@WintaTheAngle That law isn't, no.

The Gospel is always relevant.

@BritishFailedAesthetic It’s great how you guys will dismiss one page of the Bible, project another, and tell us the while book is gods word.
@WintaTheAngle *sigh* learn about the role of the old testament.

Don't pretend you understand Biblical scholarship.

@BritishFailedAesthetic I don’t pretend anything of the sort. I’ll just bin the book and read something else.
