If a religion is telling you that you will never be good enough and nothing you do matters beyond submitting to faith...

Then that isn't the product of a loving divinity. That divinity is not morally good. It's like being with a narcissist that abused you to keep you dependent.

"You'll never be good enough without me."
"Being good to other people doesn't matter, you only need to be mine."
"The people who criticize me are the real bad guys."
"Look what YOU made me do. Never forget what I did for you because of you."

Mostly posting this to annoy one sided proselytizers trying to strawman critics and deleting posts pointing out how weak and demented their analogies are.

@BlueVeins I'm not generally going to begrudge people of their beliefs if they find them helpful. And there are some positive aspects like community building and coping mechanisms in the face of grief and when things are out of control.

But I'm really sick of those who try to spread the message that no single person is good enough. We are already facing an epidemic of self-esteem issues throughout society as it is.
