Well true, it's mostly Abrahamic religions that teach people the fear of going to hell especially Christianity, a burning hell doesn't really exist in Judaism, hell, hades and sheol really means "grave" in the Torah, the soul is basically the breath and it goes nowhere after death.
Ecclesiastes says death is a breathless, dreamless sleep.
The Idea of a heaven and hell came later in the new testament.
And lots of Christians seems to have problems accepting science like evolution, the age of the Earth and are creation literalists.
Not all religions are anti science, most Buddhists and Hindus I encounter accept the fact of evolution and don't take religious texts seriously.
I'm Native mostly Hopi and Cherokee and I practice my spirituality, there's tribal lore and legends but I don't take those stories seriously, I see them as local legends from storytellers.
