This is ONE of the reasons...I received a letter from my church....

"With hearts full of love and concern, we reach out to each of you in the wake of recent changes in U.S. immigration policy....we have been praying for all those who may be affected—whether directly or indirectly—by these developments. We especially want to express our love to those who carry the weight of uncertainty, fear, or disruption in their lives because of their immigration status or the status of loved ones.

....recently reaffirmed the Church’s approach to immigration, grounded in the Savior’s example and teachings.

We echo those principles here and commit to uphold them as we strive to be true disciples of Jesus Christ.

We obey the law.

We follow Jesus Christ by loving our neighbors.

We serve those in need, regardless of their immigration status.

We are especially concerned with keeping families together.

These guiding truths are more than policies—they are expressions of the gospel of Jesus Christ. ....we are called to lift, comfort, and serve one another."

There was more. More of the same.

Perhaps I am wrong to be angry that my CHURCH is sending out a letter telling me how to THINK and FEEL about the deportation of illegal immigrants.

In light of the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia the sentence which read, "We are especially concerned with keeping families together." becomes a commentary on current politics. Garcia is or was a member of MS13. To join that gang you have to have KILLED someone, so he is a murderer. But because he has a FAMILY, I am supposed to be concerned with him keeping his FAMILY together????? IMO, his family is free to join him in El Salvador.

AND IMO my church, and ALL other churches, should keep their OPINIONS about current politics to themselves.

What is YOUR opinion on this matter?

There is an ulterior motive behind the left letting millions enter the country illegally and it has nothing to do with compassionate humanitarian concerns.

They plan to use this block of people to build a political power base they could not otherwise achieve. It will come by granting immunity for illegal entry, then voting rights to residents w non-citizen status and eventually easing path to citizenship. This is all about creating a permanent leftist and globalist rule of the USA.

The bible speaks of a time when wrong shall be called right and right called wrong .. we are there. Even among some churches.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@BrandNewMan Right now, US entry is easy and once people breed, they are permanent guardian to their permanent US child. Citizenship by birth needs to be reviewed.
@DanielsASJ A lot needs to be done to prevent this or it will likely lead to civil war

The only time I heard from my church was to say I could not be an usher or deacon because I was divorced, then I asked for prayers for my kids on a couple minor surgeries and they were never added to the prayer chain? Then when I had my career ending surgery and went through a right shoulder reconstruction then a spinal surgery not once when My brother brought me to services did, I get hands laid on me for a healing prayer months past my spinal surgery when it was obvious I was recovering. So, I quit going and had been paying full tithes when I quit going. Only on the following year when tax return documents were sent out did they know I was missing from August to December of that year because no one paid my tithes.

So, when it comes to churches, they can keep their Pias decision and opinions to themselves. I can read and pray at home, and it costs me nothing and at least I feel God's presence, and not judgment of a married congregation.
Mbingh01 · 61-69, F
@WillaKissing this is why a lot of people don’t go to church. They way you were treated is inexcusable. Did this happen to be a baptist church?
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@Mbingh01 Yes at a Baptist church. Then I tried a non-denomination Christian church after the Baptist and got the same treatment.

So, I figured if only God can pass judgment upon me then I can have my own private church with God and I here on my farm.
WillaKissing · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou Thank you it was, and it greatly changed my idea about churches and the church goers. So, it is between Christ and I on a personal one on one level now.
These two sentences spoke to me.

We echo those principles here and commit to uphold them as we strive to be true disciples of Jesus Christ.

We obey the law.

I understand and appreciate the Christian compassion of loving everyone. And I understand the importance of obeying the law. But it "feels" as if the church is saying these principles are mutually exclusive as it pertains to illegal aliens, and that they are potentially willing to break the law.
4meAndyou · F
@BizSuitStacy Exactly. The sentence about protecting families struck me even MORE deeply...because there are so many illegals here with American wives and children.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@4meAndyou

They use to call it an “anchor baby”. By having a child born in the US, by marrying a US citizen they enhance their chances of not being deported.

To help sell that to the public the left focuses on “supporting family structure” in their appeal for support.

It’s part of the plan. The message from our misinformation industry today with regard to Garcia is that being a member of a MS-13 killer gang, being a wife beater, being a thug are all less important than “supporting family structure”
4meAndyou · F
@Heartlander Trump is having his legal team examine birthright citizenship to see if there is any chance of overturning it. I thoroughly believe that Garcia's family should remain together...in El Salvador.
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
Are you a member of the Catholic Church?

They've been assisting illegal immigrants for decades. They have multiple NGOs setup to assist immigrants with crossing the border and getting resources and assistance here.

I don't agree with it. They are a religious organization, and this is a political matter for the US. They should have their religious exemptions revoked if they are going to continue to meddle in US politics.

I don't think you need to be angry about it, but I do agree they shouldn't be weighing in on the issue like this and you are right to be annoyed and offended.
4meAndyou · F
@SumKindaMunster The Catholic church is aiding and abetting the illegal immigrants, for sure. I am no longer a member of that church, but I grew up as a Catholic. Thank you for saying that I am right to be annoyed and offended by this letter, because I certainly AM.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
It’s how sanctuary cities came to be. The digressive and organized left puts relentless pressure on every authority level to make a statement or pass a resolution supporting their cause.

We often watch city commission type meetings where there may be a citizen’s opportunity to address the commissioners and the digressive left will stack dozens of presenters to make 3 minute speeches demanding the city commissioners pass a resolution or issue public statements in support. We saw it with Black Lives Matter, we saw it with anti-Israel, we saw it with immigration. Unfortunately there are no counter arguments presented. Your church leadership was probably hit with dozens of demands, over and over, to make a statement. Pressed with that one sided demand it caved to the pressure.

Notice that your church’s request contained no hint of opposing views. There is no relentless pressure from the right, there is no organized right in America, we are simply the silent majority having to defend ourselves after the digressive left gets the legislature, or the city commission, or the church leadership to pass a resolution or make a statement.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@4meAndyou I know :) ... but the way politics has been divided up it's generally Democrats VS everyone else. It's why I identify my own political leaning as "anti-Democrat", I'm not a Republican. I became an "I" while attending a Bob Dole town hall type meeting. Once he got beyond the abortion issue it was like listening to Bill Clinton talking from the there side of his mouth. He was pretty much saying the same thing Clinton was saying and pretending he was saying something different.

Our church definitely stays away from the political issues. We don't discuss, we simply pray for our country and all people, no matter who or where they are.
4meAndyou · F
@Tumbleweed And so it should be.
Tumbleweed · F
@4meAndyou Exactly :)
Adrift · 61-69, F
I know of a few immigrants that are here legally that are now affraid of deportation.
One lady in particular is an elderly lady who lives alone and has been a victim of burglaries.
We caught the guy on camera and showed her that he was attempting to break into her house while she was at home asleep.
This whole mass immigration has created such a mess of problems for people like her who otherwise wouldn’t have had a problem in the first place.
The fact that she is afraid to talk to the police puts her at risk and the F***er preying upon people like her probably knows that.
Thanks Biden.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@Adrift

Tim Walz is spreading the word that we are all at risk for being deported, and the Misinformation industry is providing him the megaphone to spread that lie.

@Heartlander Tim Walz is a whole 'nother level of evil.

In my experience of many years of going to church as a child and young man every single week I was indoctrinated into what to think and feel. I thought that appeared to be the churches main raison d'etre.

However I do remember supposedly Christians are supposed to love and forgive everyone so I'm not sure their position is out of kilter with Christian teachings.

I'm just surprised. My eventual final falling out with church led religion was the total hypocrisy I regularly saw spouted out. I met some of the most bigoted, judgemental and racist people inside the walls of churches.
4meAndyou · F
@OldBrit I've met the same sorts of people. However, for the most part, I have been able to ignore them. This letter, however...trying to tell me how to think and feel about a government policy with which I wholeheartedly agree...well, it's offensive.
carpediem · 61-69, M
Totally agree. I’d also ask if the church was ok with spousal abuse. Because this Garcia guy certainly was. I think I’d cut my contributions a bit after reading something like that.
4meAndyou · F
@carpediem Or look for a better church...if one exists.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
Politics should not interrupt in the matter of Church and Church should not interrupt in matters of politics. Also, Church should be given free immigration permission all over the world. Union of Churches should be made powerful. Church premises should not be any nation's premises. Those illegals, who come to church should be put on observance, if found conducting themselves good, could be recommended to Presidents and the Heads all over the World, for whatever their cause is.

Every Church should have equal status all over the world. Those Illegals who want to stay in US or any part of the world must be put to duty by the Church for a minimum 10 years of period. After that, their needs or demands must be considered according to their conduct.
4meAndyou · F
@DanielsASJ Render to Caesar what is Caesars and render to God what is Gods. In the separation of church and state, Jesus Christ understood clearly that the laws of the land were in control of SOME things, and churches must always be obedient unto the law of the land.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@4meAndyou Correct. I said all that under adrenaline rush.
Let's not forget, folks, that compassion is like a good cup of tea – it should be offered to everyone, regardless of their postcode... or zip code.

Not understanding the church's compassion is probably about as understanding as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs 😅

Maybe you think they're all secretly plotting to steal your prize-winning marrow at the local garden show. But, let's be honest, it's not like the church is handing out green cards with the collection plate 🙄
4meAndyou · F
@AlanAPartridge No. Instead, they are trying to dictate to me how I should feel, and how I should think. I am highly offended.
specman · 51-55, MVIP
I believe if they are illegal they must be deported. If their family doesn’t want to be separated then they are welcome to be deported with him!
4meAndyou · F
@specman EXACTLY!!!
joe438 · 61-69, M
I'm glad my church is staying out of those politics. If they came out in support of murderers, I'd stop attending.
joe438 · 61-69, M
I’d hate walking away from the good we do the community (soup kitchens, clothing drives) but I’d have to stop if the church stood up and supported lawbreakers or violence. While we have a lot of political disagreement in the congregation, I think we all agree on that.
4meAndyou · F
@joe438 I try to do good on my own. I go to a local food pantry once a week, and load up my car with as much as it can hold of food for my neighbors.
joe438 · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou the good people always find a way to help.
Different · 31-35, M
They should not mention it lol thats weird too i would mot mention anything unless im doing it personally ot behind the church name tho

AbbeyRhode · F
@4meAndyou It's so phony, anyway. They claim to care SO much about families when it suits their agenda, but where is their "caring" when American families have to bury a beloved child, sibling, or parent murdered by a criminal who should never have been here in the first place? 😠
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@AbbeyRhode They might care if it ever happened to one of their loved ones
4meAndyou · F
@AbbeyRhode A child who was a MEMBER of my church committed suicide because he decided he was a girl. Instead of getting him the treatment he needed to prevent suicide, his parents just humored him...and the young people in the church made a big deal out of loving and accepting him. But that didn't help him one little bit.

LOVE is not enough.
