Not many churches are so open about wanting their followers to remain ignorant, though they all want that of course.

@NerdyPotato this was the only church ive been to (beyong my mom bringing us to idk what church when i was too young to remember) and i distrinctly remember being taught not to research the religion on your own. ive always wondered if other religions were taught so up front to only use pre-approved sources

@jshm2 mormons ARE lds. when did i say other cults didnt have similiar issues? i didnt say that, and im not naive on the "religion" i was raised in for 18 years until i could leave
you said they werent wrong to tell their followers to not research the religion on their own, and im saying they are wrong because the goal is to keep people from learning about what sort of person joseph smith is, because he very much strays from the image they like to portray him in

@Frostcloud So you hate your former church, and now you have to try to spread the hate.
"The earliest “age of consent” laws I can find are from 1885. In every state, the age of consent was between 10 and 12 years old (except Delaware, which was 7 years old). Now, the age of consent across the country is between 16 and 18 years old. Clearly, our perception of what is and is not appropriate is vastly different from what our ancestors believed."

@4meAndyou is your argument that i am not allowed to speak on my experiences or my opinions on the religion i was raised in? i dont care what the legal age of consent is. if its an all knowing religion then it should know not to marry children ❤ little girls who havent even had their first period at 10 years old
with that in mind, regardless of how "legal" it is, the average age for a woman to marry in the 1880s was 23 years old. Not 14! helen mar kimball was a victim among many others
not to mention they didn't lift racial restrictions in the church until almost 1980. they taught that in the highest tier of heaven you will be white for eternity. joseph smith described jesus with blue eyes. they taught "by righteous living, the dark-skinned races may again become white and delightsome."
