Protestants say bowing down to statues or people is idolatry. Here's an example of someone doing something looking like worship to somoene.

1 Kings 18:7 7 As Obadiah was on his way, Elijah met him. Recognizing him, Obadiah fell prostrate and asked, “Is it you, my lord Elijah? example of someone doing something that looks like worship.

in the book of hermetica it says you shouldnt worship the dead but worship the living. if there is a spark of divinity in all of us then this makes more sense to me.

@Penny 2 Maccabees 12:46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.

@Penny According to Protestants the only mediator is between Jesus and God. But according to the Book of Enoch Saints have a bigger role.
according to The Book of Enoch describes holy beings in heaven, including angels and the souls of the righteous, interceding for humanity on Earth by presenting their prayers and causes to God. This reflects a belief within Judaism and early Christianity that heavenly entities could advocate for those on earth, a concept also seen in the Book of Revelation. The text shows that the souls of men appeal to the holy ones of heaven to "Bring our cause before the Most High" Yes, the Book of Enoch suggests that beings in heaven, particularly holy ones and angels, intercede for people on Earth, with one passage stating that the souls of men ask the holy ones in heaven to bring their causes before the Most High. While the book was not included in the biblical canon by most traditions, it reflects beliefs held by some ancient Jews and is consistent with later Christian ideas of saints and angels interceding for humanity

@RisingMorningStar7 The book of Maccabees is not in the KJV Bible and the same goes for the book of Enoch.. Neither of them are in the KJV Bible.. So quoting them to a Christian is a waste of time..
Research the difference between worship, like you're describing, and bowing like they did back then or still in places like Japan.

@PathwayMachine it doesn't matter protestants say kneeling in front statues is worship not veneration. here we have someone porstrating himself which is more of a worship gesture than veneration.
@RisingMorningStar7 And they also don't consider the apocryphal works inspired. Praying to someone is certainly worship. Not NECESSARILY bowing, although it could be considered as worship, depending on the context. One thing is for sure. Most Christains do worship the cross, which is a pagan phallic idol, a religious symbol of fertility.

@PathwayMachine What I mean about someone prostrating himself in front of a prophet in the Bible shows that veneration is something with the mind and heart. And How the mind and heart is directed towards that person be either worship or veneration.

Worshipping people is against the will of God.. Statues are craven images and are against the will of God.. And the Bible detailes many of the sins of people of the Bible.. As Jesus said the only one who is Good is God..
