Sort of, but religion isn't a sentient being. People are evil, which is why religion appears evil when it really isn't. The same applies to money, politics, love, sex, and everything else.
When someone says religion is evil what they really mean is that they don't like the way some people think and they want the thing to go away because they really haven't thought about it at all. If they did they would realize they themselves are the evil in religion.

Not exactly. With the wrong belief in the wrong hands wrongdoing will sometimes be done. Many people still desire a religion, for this gives them hope. Also, as an atheist, I can tell you that we survive death. It's a reasonable conclusion when explained in terms of the cosmos and what it can do.

@Emjay So true don't forget that energy can't be created or destroyed only transformed so we know that death is really the transformation of energy from one form to another.

@Peaceandnamaste Transformation of energy won't explain cosmic provision of afterlife. It merely implies the cosmos is sustainable. To prove the idea of cosmic afterlife we would need to establish a foundational cosmic balance and then a testable balance associated with afterlife.
