I believe Christians are immediately held to a certain standard and or believe to act certain ways.
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@HiThereyouare Definitely. As I was telling someone else, Christians judge other Christians even more harshly than non-Christians do, sometimes.
zork0000 · 56-60, M
@HiThereyouare Yes, because Christians nearly universally profess that they do have higher morals and standards.

No. I think they judge others too much..
empanadas · 31-35, M
@SubstantialKick honestly that's the main reason why I left the church. I never been bullied before until I went to church. There's so many rules
@empanadas I especially enjoy being called a fake Christian. 😕

If I'm being honest, I've seen more people here judging Christians than the opposite and the reasoning behind it being they feel judged by them.
It's the same pattern with other religions that are most dominant wherever people live.
Except people that don't identify with any religion at all exclude themselves from the label of being judgemental. First of all, we all judge, it's natural but generalising is lazy thinking and I'm not here for it from both ends of the spectrum.
zork0000 · 56-60, M
@NickiHijab When people discuss things related to religion, very broad statements are very often made. When those are coming from Christians (or people from other religious creeds) it is felt that their response to request for proofs is only two things - they believe therefore it is so and it is in the Bible so it is true (which is tantamount to the same thing since the Bible is claimed to be the word of God).
BlueVeins · 22-25
On the whole, not really. I think some people judge Christians too harshly just as some others don't judge Christians harshly enough. While it's not fair to assume that all religious people believe the most vile parts of their holy books, it's very common for religious folks to downplay or excuse the flaws in their own faiths, and anyone who does that is complicit in the harm that religious fundamentalism causes.

If you're willing to condemn the flaws in your religion, then I respect you and I think it's shitty when people grill you for it after you've done that. Otherwise, you can go choke on a chode.

I feel like the hate against Christianity is growing , but I can understand why. Many Christians tend to be very judgmental and prejudiced. Although people shouldn’t believe all Christians are the same and discriminate someone based on their faith.
No. Most Christians have no idea of their bloody history, and feel every law should be a reflection of their beliefs.
Criticism Christians face comes from the people, the nations they've hurt (or destroyed). It isn't simply disagreeing with beliefs when someone's religion is responsible for the destruction of your people's culture and vitality!
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Yes. I am gay. My partners family are Christian. No issues. There's extreme folk in every religion every religion just to be clear.
Faith on faith judgment is the most prevalent. Second only to people on people in general.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
Stereotyped, Dan. So those of us who actually try to live it out get tarred with the same brush as those who have done so much damage.
And those christians who do so much damage also stereotype people.
@Abstraction I think when you choose to belong to a community of people who have done so much harm, that is a weight you have to bare, and if you see the wrong in what others in your community do, you have an obligation to hold them accountable. There is incredible power in such a huge community.

I obviously didn't choose to be white, but I am aware of how much I benefit from the racist world we live in and understand I have a moral obligation to do everything I can to do better and encourage the people around me to be better too.
Christians have a very similar obligation.
Abstraction · 61-69, M
@AmbivalentFriability My community? And which community is that? Are you stereotyping me into a single conglomerate with every other person who claims to be a christian? No-one in the christian communities I have belong to has done those things. They are not judgemental. In terms of my obligations I would suggest I have spent my life understanding and acting on my obligations, for example I have spent my life working for the poorest and most vulnerable. I've actually touched the lives of millions of children even though that will sound nonsensical to you, it's of no matter.
No argument about the harm done in the name of religion. I don't have a relationship with all the people in all the religious institutions in the world. I can't control what people in other groups do. I influence where I can, but realistically that's in groups I am part of. The institution that has done most damage to individual people in the world is not the church. It's not even the government. It is the family - abuse, murder, mistreatment, violence... I can't control what all the other families do. I can influence my own family.

I think Muslims are judged even more quickly.
The population of Christians has good and bad. And many people only see the bad. I see no reason to discriminate against the beliefs of others. To me its all very personal.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@mondayschild2 exactly this
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
bugeye · 26-30, F
yeah, but not without reason. the religion doesn't have the best track record. depending on which version you are a part of can make it better or worse.

No, quite the opposite. here, at SW. they judge everyone quickly and harshly
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
The bible says they will be hated on account of their testimony.
People think Christians are brainwashed and simple.
That we live in a land of bliss with no struggles.
It is a hard thing to fly in the face of most of modern thought and philosophies and hang on to the belief in a God the world seems to hate with more and more frequency.
Its the bad ones that give the rest a bad name. A few very loud ones are extremists and terrorists.
Same thing with being male. The behavior of a few makes people think all men are rapists.
The many have to pay for the sins of the few. No matter what the topic.
Too many people are too quickly judged in today's society .. part of my sometimes being less than a people person
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M
@Stillwaiting Yep. Just observe an online political discussion.
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
By some people, yes. Mostly by atheists and radical leftists. Christians are a very diverse group though.
KuroNeko · 41-45, F
I think you have some very bad spokespeople. Too many trying to use the rules to control others.

[c=4C0073]they are, but they should not be, for only i may judge the heathens of earth![/c]

I think they are too judgmental of others ..they are no better then anyone else
In this day and age in western societies, yes
empanadas · 31-35, M
Depends, yeah. I see alot of people being against Christianity. However there's a lot of Christians who judge others too quickly as well. Everything is too extreme nowadays. There's never a middle ground
RopinTexan · 31-35, M
@empanadas Amen! 🙏
