I hate bedtimes. I can’t fall asleep when I’m not tired

Your body needs a diurnal sleep cycle (opposite of nocturnal) to have a healthy chemical balance, it's essential.

Sometimes people make their kids go to bed at 9 so that they'll actually be asleep by 10 (it takes time and electronics that have light shining in your eyes make it hard to sleep, you need melatonin in your system to sleep and your body releases it when it perceives a lack of light) but really as long as a person is asleep before 11 and gets at least 8 hours sleep they're fine, but accounting for trouble sleeping and anything that could disturb your sleep once or twice is a point of wisdom, and one reason that people set bedtimes for their kids until they feel like they're mature enough to manage their own sleep schedule and maintain it healthily
