Opening Up — A Simple Practice Most of Us Forget

Have you truly opened your heart to someone or something?

If not, I encourage you to try.

You don't need the perfect person to confide in.

If you can't find someone trustworthy enough, find a place instead …. somewhere secluded and calm. A hillside. A tree. The open sky. Even the passing wind will do.

If you are a person of faith, speak to that which you believe in. Imagine the light of all truth standing before you, and simply begin.

Start with your worries …… Speak them out first. Then your joys. That part usually comes easily.....

Listen your voice....

Then go a little deeper …… speak of your shortcomings, your flaws, the things you quietly judge yourself for.

And then the secrets you have never said aloud to anyone.

Just breathe, and let it out.

Sometimes, when you do this, something unexpected happens.

You may break into tears, or feel a sudden rush of relief, or sit with a pain so pure it surprises you. Emotions can surge all at once … like opening a dam. Let them. Don't stop, don't pull back.

Let it move through you.

Then breathe. Slowly and deeply. In and out.

Notice how much lighter you feel. You may barely recognize yourself ….. and that is not a bad thing. That is your environment within clearing……decluttered…..refreshed.

If you can, stay a while longer. Sit with your eyes closed.

Don't chase any thoughts. Just breathe, quietly and calmly. In that stillness, you get a small but honest taste of what change actually feels like ….. not forced, not dramatic. Just real.

It is a remarkably simple practice. No tools, no preparation, no expertise required. Only a little calm space, a little time, and the willingness to let go.

It is one of the most ordinary things a person can do …. and one of the most quietly powerful.

Has anyone here done this?

Sounds liberating. I'd love to try that.

Yeah, but I can't... you know... I can't... let go.
I have. But still in progress. There are parts of me that are still hidden from me.
