Does married life require a greater purpose beyond just to loving each other?

Yes... A marriage will fail if the couple doesn't have goals that closely align that they can support each other with.

Often, children can be there glue that binds a relationship together - but, what when the children are older and have flown the nest???

@HootyTheNightOwl So, what do you think is a good purpose for a marriage, aside from just loving each other? Like, what kind of goals or values do you think should guide a relationship?

@HootyTheNightOwl @icedeathshogun Goals don't have to closely align. As long as it isn't something major, like one person needs to move to another country and the one needs to stay where they are. But generally speaking, goals have little importance. Love is what matters the most and when you really love someone, you're going to support them.
